Yasen & Book is a young, independent Moscow publishing house that produces unique, positive and beautifully illustrated books by Russian writers for children between the ages of 2 and 12. Led by magical corgis, mischievous raccoons, fairy catmothers and lovable woodland creatures, their books all speak to the importance of fun and exploration, with whimsical narratives always underpinned by kind, wise messages.
With the aim of encouraging a more understanding, multilingual future, Yasen & Book have published a selection of their own books in English, French, Chinese, Arabic, Czech and more. A number of their titles by Igor Shlyapka (illustrated by Alina Skantseva) and Elena Khaetskaya (illustrated by Rimas Valeikis and Agne Gintalaite) are available in English in my translation. Some of these have been published on the Russian market, while others are available as samples.
